Holiday Cottages in Grassington

With a beautiful setting above the River Wharfe, Grassington is one of the best-known villages in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Settled since prehistoric times, the village first became important as a centre for the lead mining industry in the 18th century. Indeed, many of the picturesque cottages once housed the miners and their families. You can explore the history of mining in the area at the Upper Wharfedale Folk Museum.
In its pretty cobbled square a selection of independent shops offer arts and crafts, clothing and gifts. Grassington also boasts a fine selection of country pubs, tearooms, restaurants and B&Bs offering quality food.
Grassington is an excellent base for exploring the Dales Way which meanders across the Wharfedale area, The views are outstanding in all seasons. Also popular are horse riding, fly fishing on the River Wharfe sailing and windsurfing on Grimwith Reservoir.
Grassington celebrates its vibrant main festival in the last two weeks of June with a host of events including poetry, music and craft fairs. At the end of the year a Dickensian theme takes over with with musicians, costume and street entertainers.
